Your adventure begins with an early morning pick-up in Entebbe before heading southwest towards Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The journey takes you through rolling hills, traditional villages, tea plantations, and lush countryside, offering plenty of opportunities to experience Uganda’s beautiful landscapes.
Arrive at your lodge in the afternoon, enjoy dinner, and settle in for the night. Tomorrow brings the highlight of your journey—meeting one of the world’s last remaining mountain gorilla families.
After an early breakfast, you’ll head to the park headquarters for a briefing from the Uganda Wildlife Authority. Your experienced ranger guide will explain everything you need to know before entering the rainforest, including how to safely and respectfully interact with the gorillas.
The trek itself is part of the adventure. Depending on where the gorilla family is located, the hike may take anywhere from 2 to 8 hours, winding through dense rainforest, across hills, and over streams. Along the way, your guide will point out fascinating plants, birds, monkeys, and other wildlife that call Bwindi home.
Once you find the gorillas, you’ll spend one unforgettable hour observing them in their natural habitat. Watching these gentle giants interact with one another—playing, feeding, grooming, and caring for their young—is an experience that few people ever forget.
Did you know that mountain gorillas share approximately 98% of their DNA with humans? Despite their impressive size, they are remarkably peaceful animals, and every trekking permit directly contributes to protecting both the gorillas and the communities living alongside them.
Return to your lodge in the afternoon to relax and reflect on an extraordinary day.
After breakfast, you’ll visit the Batwa community, the original forest inhabitants of Bwindi. Learn about their traditional way of life, discover ancient hunting techniques, listen to storytelling, music, and dance, and gain insight into the deep connection they have with the rainforest they once called home.
Following the cultural experience, begin the scenic journey back to Entebbe, arriving in the evening with unforgettable memories and a deeper appreciation for Uganda’s wildlife, culture, and conservation efforts.
